Getting ready to return to work?

The pandemic has deeply affected a lot of lives this past year and has left many wondering—what now?

This uncertainty still exists, but many people are slowly starting to resume working in the office after being unemployed or working remotely the last several months. Many companies are starting to define what the “return to office” plan should look like.

Perhaps you cancelled your old insurance policy while working from home during these difficult times and now need coverage for your commute back to the office. Good news—getting insured with Root is simple. With our easy-to-use mobile app, you have all the coverage you could ever need right at your fingertips.

Here’s how Root works

If this is the first you’ve heard of us, here’s how the process works. At Root, we offer car insurance to good drivers. So if you have safe on-the-road habits, you could get a better rate when you switch from your current insurer.

Other car insurance companies judge you primarily on things such as your demographics (ZIP code, marital status, age, etc.), but we believe that isn’t fair. At Root, we do things differently

Need quick, easy, and affordable insurance for your return to the workplace?

Just download our app (it takes less than a minute to get started) and take the test drive. After a few weeks, you will get a rate that is based primarily on your driving behavior. Good drivers who switch to Root could save up to $900/year on their car insurance policies.

Scoring your driving behavior

Here are some of the factors that Root is considering when evaluating your driving behavior:

  • Safe hours

It’s riskier to be on the road during certain time periods. Stick to driving during the daytime whenever possible, particularly on weekends.

  • Smooth braking

While driving, always leave plenty of room for yourself to brake. If you’re hard braking often this might imply that you’re too close to the car in front of you. Be mindful and alert.

  • Focused driving

Do not respond to texts or adjust the music on your phone while you’re driving. Those things can wait until you’ve reached your destination.

  • Gentle turning

Always give yourself plenty of room to slow down before making a turn. Turning at full speed puts you and your passengers at risk.

We will gather this data about your driving over the course of a month in order to offer you the fairest rate possible.

Did your coverage lapse?

A lapse in car insurance coverage occurs when a user allows their policy to expire for any amount of time. Lapses can happen for a variety of reasons—financial hardship, forgetting to renew on time, or if your car insurance company decides to cut ties with you for having too many accidents or tickets.

Since traditional car insurance companies base your rate heavily on things like driving history and credit score, any of these circumstances would likely put you in a tough spot when trying to renew or shop around for coverage.

If you’ve had a lapse in coverage during the COVID crisis, no need to stress. Root could still be a great match for you. Even with those bad marks on your record, you could still pay a much lower premium.

Since Root uses driving behavior as the primary factor in determining your rate, the thing that matters most to us is your driving score

For people not driving back to work

Perhaps you’re not returning to work, but maybe you’ve started to feel more comfortable going places again. Whether it’s a drive to the salon, a grocery store run, or a trip to your favorite hiking spot—we’ve got you covered.

We know that these are trying times for everyone, and you’ve got plenty of financial stuff to worry about. Root is committed to offering better rates to better drivers because we believe everyone deserves fair and affordable car insurance.

You shouldn’t have to overpay on your policy to make up for the unsafe drivers out there. At Root, we base your rate primarily on your driving behavior. Not the behavior of those riskier drivers.

So no matter where you’re off to, if you have safe on-the-road habits, you could save money along the way.
