COVID-19 payment options by state

Many state insurance departments are implementing new policies around payment grace periods and extensions. This may mean that different options are available to different customers, depending on the state you live in. We are working quickly and closely with each state to implement these new policies. As the situation continues, regular updates will be posted here.

Effective March 20, 2020

Root Insurance is offering the following support to our customers who live in the state of Arkansas:

The Arkansas Insurance Commissioner, Allen Kerr, issued Bulletin No. 6-2020 on March 20, 2020. If you have been negatively impacted by COVID-19, you may request an extension or grace period to pay your Root auto insurance premiums. You may similarly request to keep your policy if it was canceled on or after March 20.

Root customers in Colorado affected by COVID-19

Root Insurance is offering the following support to our customers who live in the state of Colorado:

The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies issued Bulletin No. B-5.38 on March 27, 2020. Due to the unprecedented and extraordinary impact of the COVID-19 emergency, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued multiple Public Health Orders which have limited otherwise normal business and personal interactions and activities. Root is working with the Division of Insurance to make reasonable accommodations to prevent individuals from losing coverage due to non-payment of premium. If you have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 in the state of Colorado, Root may be able to help.

Root customers in Delaware affected by COVID-19

Effective March 25, 2020

Root Insurance is offering the following support to our customers who live in the state of Delaware:

In consultation with the Delaware Department of Insurance, Governor John Carney issued a sixth modification to the State of Emergency on March 25, 2020. If you are experiencing a loss of income during the COVID-19 crisis, you may request an extension or grace period to pay your Root auto insurance premiums. You may similarly request to keep your policy if it was canceled on or after March 25.
