With renters, you're covered
At home or away
If your stuff is stolen from your home, your car, or from your hotel, even when you’re traveling in another country—we’ll pay to replace it.
If there's damage
If your stuff is damaged from things like plumbing issues or smoke from a fire, we’ll give you the money to replace it.
If you need a place to stay
If something damages your home and you can’t stay there (think fire or storm damage), we pay for your living expenses for up to 12 months.
If someone gets hurt
If someone gets injured on your property, renters insurance could help pay for their medical expenses.
Here’s where we are
Still have renters questions?
What if I move?
If your new address is in a state covered by Root, then all you have to do is update your address in the app. Easy. If you move to a state not covered by Root, you’ll need to cancel your renters policy.
What is Personal Property coverage?
Personal Property coverage helps cover the costs when something happens to your things, like storm damage and theft. It also helps cover living expenses—like for a hotel—if your home is damaged and you can’t live there.
Does renters insurance cover pets?
Pets are not covered as property, so your policy wouldn’t pay if they were injured. But, it would help pay for a human’s medical expenses if your dog bit someone.
