We’re hiring an Insurance Operations Analyst in Columbus, OH

We’re looking for an Insurance Operations Analyst to help us develop deeper insights on our products’ performance through research and reporting. With your deep understanding of the insurance industry and its economics, you’ll help our Insurance Operations team identify and analyze both market and competitive intel to better understand our position and potential opportunities. Using cross-company data and extensive research, you’ll evaluate the effectiveness of different initiatives to help identify and prioritize high-impact projects. Once identified, you’ll develop project reporting from the ground up, making sure we’re meeting our deadlines and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze market data to inform rating and segmentation changes
  • Identify and assess trends in the insurance industry and recommend actions
  • Develop high-frequency reporting on key operational objectives
  • Compile cross-department data to monitor impact of key initiatives
  • Build local (state-specific and intra-state) information sets on insurance environment, competitive environment/dynamics, and how Root is positioned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related fields required; MBA or related graduate degree preferred 
  • 2+ years experience in personal auto industry
  • Strong understanding of insurance economics
  • Experience with SQL or similar programming language
  • Experience in building and monitoring dashboards
  • Basic statistical knowledge

Preferences

  • Experience in a direct to consumer marketing company
  • Exposure to S&P Market Intelligence tools, Verisk/ISO data, LexisNexis data, other industry databases and tools
  • Experience using Tableau
