We’re hiring a Payroll Analyst in Columbus, OH

Position: We’re looking for a Payroll Analyst to assist in accurately processing payroll for our 900+ employees. The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for day-to-day processes associated with semi-monthly salary payroll and will ensure our salary employees are paid on time and with little error. The person who fills this position will work with our Payroll Manager and Payroll Admin to ensure our day-to-day payroll processes adhere to process guidelines and are in-line with general payroll law compliance. As part of the People Team, the individual who fills this position will take pride in serving all Root employees in a professional and respectful manner. 

What you’ll be doing.

  • Prepare, process and audit salary payroll on a semi-monthly basis.
  • Troubleshoot payroll issues/questions for all salary employees.
  • Process 401k Contribution Vendor imports.
  • Review monthly deduction and earning audits per process guidelines.
  • Setup new HSA Agency Checks as need arises.
  • Setup new Child Support/Garnishments in Payroll System and ensure proper withholding in accordance with law.
  • Ensure tax recalculations occur with all address changes in HRIS.
  • Review tax setup for all new hires.
  • Assist Payroll Manager with end of month report creation for Accounting’s monthly Payroll Expense reconciliation.
  • Facilitate payroll corrections/amendments as needed.
  • Back-up Payroll Manager and submit Payroll Batches as needed.
  • Process quarterly imputed income for employees.
  • Semi-Monthly and monthly PTO Balance audits to ensure system processes run smoothly.
  • Send Paylocity Benefit Plan anticipatory debit reports to Accounting as needed.
  • Assist Payroll Manager/Accounting with identifying/documenting Bank activity as it relates to Payroll Expenses

What we’re looking for.

  • 3 years of payroll or related experience preferred.
  • Understanding of Federal and State payroll compliance laws.
  • General knowledge of State/Local payroll tax requirements.
  • Experience monitoring PTO accruals preferred.
  • Self Starter.
  • Able to work autonomously but still be an effective team member.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve problems independently.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Prior experience with Paylocity is preferred
