We’re hiring an Internal Reporting Senior Analyst in Columbus, OH

The position.
Root is looking for a proactive senior analyst with sharp finance acumen who will identify trends and potential opportunities for our fast-growing business by managing critical reporting and dashboard-based financial visibility. As an Internal Reporting Senior Analyst, you will leverage our foundation of reporting tools, including our Financial ERP, to develop and maintain regular reporting on enterprise-wide KPIs, P&L variance, and drivers of performance results. This is a critical role for our Finance team as your insights and visibility will drive financial resource planning, including short-term financial forecasts and budgeting. The ideal candidate will have built automation and reports in a mature ERP system and is excited about contributing to a rapidly evolving and scaling finance environment.

What you’ll be doing.

  • Support all aspects of periodic and standardized financial reporting versus company forecast/budget, including producing consolidated monthly management reporting materials, business unit and company level financial statements and variance analysis
  • Development, tracking, and reporting of function-level operational and financial metrics based on a robust KPI/OKR framework
  • Heavy emphasis on insights - use attribution and other analytical skills to identify key trends and potential risks & opportunities for departmental FP&A and senior management
  • Establish business relationships with department finance leads and address ad hoc financial analysis requests and inquiries
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency of existing processes and propose improvements
  • Optimize company roll-out and adoption of ERP, including creating reports, dashboards, models and KPIs

What we’re looking for.

  • 1 - 4 years in FP&A or corporate finance, preference for previous in-depth experience with ERP systems (specifically, Oracle Hyperion/PBCS)
  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Business
  • Proficiency in Finance and Accounting concepts and terminology; insurance specific understanding is a plus
  • Must be a proactive & highly organized self-starter, able to work independently and under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • High aptitude and enthusiasm for complex problem solving, including advanced Excel and Powerpoint; experience working with data visualization tools is a plus
  • Strong communicator who can explain complex concepts to non-financial audiences
  • Knowledgeable of functional elements which are important for business profitability in order to influence, drive and positively impact business results
  • Approaches problem solving with natural intellectual curiosity, open-mindedness, and comfort with ambiguity
  • Self-starter who is intellectually curious and not afraid to seek out projects independently
