We are seeking an Analyst who can contribute to research examining how our customers think, feel, and behave. This role will be responsible for contributing to the design and execution of primary and secondary research. This role will also be responsible for translating data to actionable insights to help Root’s stakeholders make data-driven decisions. 

An ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in quantitative research and a sound knowledge of statistical principles. Applicants should also have a desire to learn more advanced skills as required in this position.

Reports to: Director, Customer Insights & Analytics

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute primary and secondary research projects.
  • Contribute to the design of survey instruments, interview guides, and focus group scripts that deliver high-quality insights.
  • Quickly and accurately analyze data and translate findings to actionable insights.
  • Contribute to the development of compelling reports that summarize research findings.
  • Manage day-to-day research operations, which may include recruitment, programming and managing online surveys, conducting telephone IDIs and surveys, coordinating focus groups, and distributing research incentives.

Desired Skills and Mindset

  • 1-2 years experience in quantitative research (academic research experience counts!).
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, analytical, or research-oriented field is required.
  • Knowledge of quantitative research methodologies and tools is required. Experience with experimental methods and/or qualitative methods is a plus.
  • High attention to detail; comfortable independently multitasking and prioritizing projects in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; ability to present complicated analytical material to team members with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Superior problem solver with ability to independently identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change.
  • Proficiency in statistical software, such as R, SAS, and/or SPSS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in a survey platform (Qualtrics preferred).
